Ex 2.5 NCERT Solutions Class 9 Chapter 2

The solutions to exercise 2.1 (from class 9th's maths NCERT book) are given below. The exercise has 5 questions which have been explained thoroughly with proper reasoning.

(iii) & (iv) are not polynomials because in ,t’s power or exponent is ½ which is not a whole number & in 2/y, y’s power is -1, which is also not a whole number.

(i) & (ii) are polynomials in one variable. Though (v) is a polynomial, it has 3 variables so it doesn’t qualify as a polynomial in one variable.

(i) The coefficient of x2 is 1

(ii) The coefficient of x2 is - 1

(iii) The coefficient of x2 is π/2

(iv) The coefficient of x2 is √2

Binomial = x35 + 2

Monomial = x100

(i) The degree of the polynomial is 3

(ii) The degree of the polynomial is 2

(iii) The degree of the polynomial is 1

(iv) The degree of the polynomial is zero

(i) The polynomial has degree 2, so it is quadratic

(ii) The polynomial has degree 3, so it is cubic

(iii) The polynomial has degree 2, so it is quadratic

(iv) The polynomial has degree 1, so it is linear

(v) The polynomial has degree 1, so it is linear

(vi) The polynomial has degree 2, so it is quadratic

(vii) The polynomial has degree 3, so it is cubic
