More About NCERT Class 8 Maths Chapter 13

Exercise 13.1 has questions based on Direct variation which emphasizes the fact that when one quantity increases the other also increases.

Excercise 13.2  has questions based on Indirect variation which emphasizes the fact that when one quantity increases the other also decreases or vice versa.

NCERT learning objectives for Chapter 13 Class 8th

As per the NCERT syllabus, Chapter 13( Direct & Inverse Proportion) is covered under Algebra (which also includes chapter 13 i.e. Direct & Inverse Proportion. In the NCERT Maths book, in chapter 13 of class 8, the students are supposed to learn how to solve:

Ratio and Proportion 
• Slightly advanced problems involving applications on percentages, profit & loss, overhead expenses, Discount, tax.

• Difference between simple and compound interest (compounded yearly up to 3 years or half-yearly up to 3 steps only), Arriving at the formula for compound interest through patterns and using it for simple problems.

What books to refer once you are done with Class 8th NCERT chapter 13 questions?
When you are done practicing NCERT questions of chapter 13, there are a few books that you can use for practice or cover questions that are not covered in the NCERT maths book. 8th Maths books by RS Aggarwal and RD Sharma are good; you can buy them after you have built your concepts through CBSE NCERT book.
